Message Hello Kathy, In case you didn't know allready; Your cups are Japanese. Before, I wrote many times (to keep it simple) that Satsuma is a kind of crackled earthenware and Kutani is porcelain. Here you can see a crackled surface with a mark (= upside down) that reads "Kutani Tozan". I couldn't find a simular mark from one of the Tozan Ito's (1, 2 and 3) so my guess is that it's a product of the "new" kiln of the Tozan studio that was build in 1920 near Kyoto.
