The Miniature Paintings of Mongolian Buddhism:
Tsaklis, Thangkas and Burhany Zurags
by Stevan Davies

Vajrapani (Sanscrit), Ochirwaan (Mongolian) Vajrapani represents the energy of the Buddhas and therefore stands in an aggressive archer’s stance holding a thunderbolt (vajra) and a noose/lasso to control demonic forces. He is surrounded by flame and stands on a lotus of fire. This representation is particularly finely detailed. |
