ANCESTORS AND DONORS
A look at tribal arts and cultures in old Asia
Christian Lequindre Collection
A representation of ancestral figures whose lineage, traced during the telling of tribal myths (mundum), goes all the way back to the first members, Khockcilip and Welum, and concludes with the last-born male of the clan. The statuette’s symbolic uterus was clearly used to deposit offerings.
