Seeing, Rather Than Looking At, Nepalese Art

The handsome detail in the carvings around this Ukubāhāḥ five-bay window is made almost invisible under the black stain applied in October
2006. The crude window closures are modern, replacements for the missing delicate lattice work such as still existed in the window of the
monastery ruin (see fig. 2).
