Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden), Todai-ji temple, Nara.
The original structure housed a huge gilt bronze image of Vairocana, the Cosmic Buddha.
Today rebuilt at only two-thirds the size of the original, it is still the largest wooden structure on earth.
