Carlo Cristi has lived and traveled in India and Southeast Asia since 1973 and has been active in Himalayan and Southeast Asian art since 1981. ----------------------------------------------------------- Carlo Cristi will participate to the fifth edition of Brussels Oriental Art Fair ( BOAF ) which will be held in Brussels from 3rd to 7th June 2009. Fine tangkas and bronzes will be on show, along with central asian artworks and textiles of early period. Notable a charming tangka of Green Tara, with fine details and beautiful colours and a small tangka of Sadaksari consecrated by Taklung lama Onpo whichs shows a very high quality of workmanship (AD 1272). Among bronzes, is worth to mention a crowned Buddha, with downcast eyes a serene smile, Nepal 14th century and some small but fine pieces like a Naro dakini in stone of fine workmanship, 14th century, Tibet and a very rare Nepalese Kubhera of 13th century. Textiles from Central Asia will include a magnificent woolen felt bag decorated with polychrome felt scrolls, 10th-11th century, a woolen skirt, from the area of Shanpula, with a band of deer in tapestry weave and more silks dated from 5th to 12th century. Collectors, Curators, Friends are welcome at GALERIE ALAIN CONTARDO, 25 Rue Ernest Allard, 1000 Brussels from 4th to 7th June 2009. Vernissage will be held on 3d June from 3 to 10 pm. |
