Detail: LOHAS is an acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability.
Over the past few years, the National Palace Museum (NPM) has been engaged in a large-scale project to digitize its vast collection of cultural assets. At its Future Museum at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the NPM is using cross-disciplinary and advanced digital technologies to create a great dialogue of unlimited proportions between the past and present. The theme of this exhibit is LOHAS and involves exploring the new appearances for Chinese art at the NPM that can be gained within the philosophical milieu of LOHAS today. In the exhibit, the palace ladies in "A Palace Concert," for example, travel in time and space to present a joyous Tang palace rhapsody. The magic crystal ball can also unlock the amazing skills of ancient craftsmanship in art, allowing you to experience the joy an emperor in antiquity would have had when holding an artwork in his hands. The NPM's famous Maogong ding (cauldron) comes to life, making your wish to turn rust into gold come true. And can the fish that have come to life through the artist's brush jump over the Dragon Gate in the digital world? Well, why not see for yourself?
