Asia Contemporary Art Show - Hong Kong 2013 (Fall)

Asia Contemporary Art Ltd
JW Marriott Hotel,,
88 Queensway, Hong Kong
May 23, 2013 To May 26, 2013

Detail: The Asia Contemporary Art Show today announced the return of its popular show presenting the works of young,
emerging and mid-career artists to collectors in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. The Fall Edition will be held
October 3rd–6th 2013 over four floors at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. “We are expecting to present an even wider
range of original works, limited editions, sculpture and photography to local and overseas art lovers and collectors
next October, with over 30% growth from 60 to 80 rooms,” said Mark Saunderson,
Director of Asia Contemporary Art Ltd.
“With our Spring show scheduled for May 23rd– 26th next year, the return of the October event in 2013 makes us the
only art show organizer in Hong Kong hosting two major events each year. We are able to do this because we are
completely focused on understanding and meeting the increasingly sophisticated needs of HongKong and other Asian
collectors – other art fairs in Hong Kong are all organized by overseas companies,” added Saunderson.
The Asia Contemporary Art Show this past October attracted 5,500 art lovers who viewed thousands of works at the
Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
“We had a great show in October, and are very pleased to learn that the Asia Contemporary Art Show will be held in
Spring and Fall starting next year. The two annual shows will provide convenient, efficient and fun ways for Hong
Kong’s burgeoning base of collectors and first-time buyers to get exposure to works from exciting new artists as
well as more established favourites,” said Carol Man of King’s Gallery.
The October 2013 show will also see the return of the popular “Hong Kong Young Artist” prizes, with a HK$50,000
award for the Grand Prize winner and HK$25,000 for the People’s Prize voted on Facebook. The prizes are open to Hong
Kong resident artists under 35 years of age, and this year attracted 81 entries.
Said the winner of the “Hong Kong Young Artist 2012,” Halley Cheng, represented by Galerie Ora Ora:“I was thrilled
to win this prestigious prize in October and it has really helped with my career development and recognition among
the Hong Kong art community and collectors.”
The People’s Prize winner, “The Rooster” by artist Peter Yuill, recently received public acclaim when it was donated
to the newly opened Harrow International School in Hong Kong. The work is displayed at the School’s campus at Tuen
Mun, and provides inspiration to budding young artists.
