Detail: NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Kobe artist Dominic Fondé in Fragmented Reality. Agora Gallery opens its doors for public viewing of this exhibition on February 12th with a reception on Thursday February 18th, from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is free.
About the Artist
Engraver, painter, and writer Dominic Fondé believes we are living in a Glass Age: a time in which glass is the material that drives our technological innovations. As it inspires invention, glass also inspires Fondé's art. His drill engraving technique allows him to create spectacularly detailed images and beautiful lines of text, all on the delicate medium of glass.
His intricate pictorial work often explores birds: their singing, their stances, their feathers in all their luxurious textures. Fondé presents birds naturalistically but also as tessellations and kaleidoscopic displays. His works showcase the inherent drama and symbolic significance of birds in our culture. In addition to this work, Fondé inscribes his own short stories on glass objects, often vases or other vessels, to underscore what he calls "the emotional weight" that objects can have for us.
Fondé was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England and today lives in Kobe, Japan, where he maintains a home studio. His wide-ranging international exhibitions include shows in Singapore, Switzerland, China, Scotland, Wales, and of course England and Japan.

About the Exhibition
Fragmented Reality: An Exhibition in NYC
With gusto and energy, Agora Gallery’s exhibition Fragmented Reality boasts over one hundred artworks by twenty artists. Angela Di Bello and her team have curated a remarkable exhibition which stages an interrogation of the dynamic balance of feminine and masculine energies while eschewing both romanticism and politics. Instead it solicits contemplation of three focused concepts: the interpretation of humans and animals within a shared environment; portraiture and abstract landscapes; and opposing forces, such as happiness and sadness, pleasure and pain. Presiding over the stunning visual space, the participating artists have conjured an airy grace from an immense application of bright colors and mixed media which all come together effortlessly in this comprehensive exhibition of fine art.
