A rare dated Chinese gold splash bronze temple vase with tall flaring neck and inverted dish-shaped foot, the globular body cast with four lion masks between bands of lappets and studs.

The underside of the foot with a circular inscription including a cyclical date which may be translated as 1684 or 1704, and also a dedication to the temple for which it was made.
