Michael Douglas

Michael Douglas is a great film star and producer who has risen to the top in both roles. His first Oscar was for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, (1975) a film he produced after acquiring the rights to the Ken Kesey novel from his father. Douglas received another Oscar, this time for best actor, for his portrayal of amoral corporate raider Gordon Gekko in the Oliver Stone-directed drama Wall Street (1987). He has starred in many other films, and has also produced several, including Romancing the Stone (1984) for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy;  he also starred in the film , thus reintroducing himself to audiences as a capable leading man. Over the years Michael Douglas has donated numerous Indian works to LACMA, almost all of them Indian paintings which he prefers, a selection of which are presented here.
