This unusually large portrait reflects the royal status and authority of Amar Singh II. His earthly wealth is implied by the magnificence of his jewelry, and his role as leader and warrior by the finely embellished weapons. The halo around his head indicates his elevated status; the flower he holds suggests his cultural sensitivity. Few portraits on cloth of this size survive.
