Nomads of Tibet and Bhutan

Nomad woman in front of a tent
Phala, Tibet
1997

Taking care of livestock at elevations of 5,000 m, in all kinds of weather, is not easy. It is a tough life and shows in this image. With beads strung in her hair and bangles on her arms though, even this nomad woman has a hint of glamour to her in spite of the worn and tattered clothes she has on.
