Lok Chitrakar

Lok Chitrakar is a self-taught artist who began painting at the age of twelve. After four decades of artistic contribution he is considered one of the most established and well respected Paubha painters in Nepal. Lok has exhibited throughout Nepal, winning numerous awards including Best Artist of the Year. He has had solo exhibits in Japan, Finland, Pakistan, India, and in the United States at Harvard University. His work is also in the permanent collection of five international museums. He has conducted multiple international workshops, and taught Eastern Art at Elmira College in New York in 2001.

As a senior artisan, Lok continues to contribute to his country by founding and presiding over Sumeru Art Village and its future development. Along with his proteges of 12 and 17 years, he runs Simik Atelier in Patan, Nepal.
