A beautiful large terracotta head of Buddha modeled in the classical Hellenistic style. The face is modeled with a benevolent expression, the eyes half closed but alert, raised Urna, the lips forming a slight smile. The elongated earlobes and wavy hair are boldly modeled. The face is youthful with finely modeled features and strongly defined, handsome features. His wavy hair is pulled back from the forehead terminating in a usnisa. A raised urna is positioned between the delicately arched eyebrows. The depiction of the nose, chin, lips and hairstyle are all Hellenistic in the execution. Colour pigments remaining.
