This photograph shows the facade of the Buddhist Cave temple at Karli, near Lonavla in the Western Ghats, Maharasthra. The superb donor figures are early 2nd century AD (Satavahana period) but the Buddha Panels were added in about the 5th Century (Vakataka period).
