Pehar Gyalpo

The aesthetic, religious and political aspects of this fine are gilded cast brass. The quality of the rendering – the details of garment patterns, delicately shown faces, fully articulated minor characters – and materials, including the plentiful use of gold, both suggest high level patronage. Pehar Gyalbo here represents the fifth and principal aspect of five super aspects of the “King of Buddha activities”. He has three heads, six arms carrying an iron spear and two swords(broken). He wears a cane “riding hat” and sits on a snow lion who stand on lotus petal base.
