Posted By: Sue Sat, Sep 08, 2007 I have 3 pieces of this art work that is very similar to yours. I am wondering if you found anything out about your piece. I have been searching the internet but have been unsuccessful. Any information you have will be most appreciative. |

Subject:Re: Art of Chokin Experts?
Posted By: Don Lewis Sun, Apr 20, 2008 I'm not a Chokin expert, just a Chokin "junkie". I have collected more than 100 individual pieces of Chokin art over the years and I have that swan design on a 6" fan. I know that one of the most famous of the artists is Yoshinobu Hara, but I don't know if that is one of his designs. My collection includes plates of various sizes and shapes, vases, bells and plaques or framed "pictures". Most of my acquisitions were from eBay in the 1990s and the Hamilton Collection in the 1980s, but I purchased my first framed "pictures" at a local gift shop in 1979. It reminded me of a similar art form I first saw in Tokyo in 1964 when I was in the Navy. It is much more valuable to the owner than what any buyer would want to spend. |
