Subject:Stone Beads - Opinions, please
Posted By: Patricia Fri, Apr 11, 2008 IP: 71.94.171.142

I picked up this fuchin pair because of their strong appeal. There's a creamy softness to their appearance but they're quite hard. (I can't scratch them with hard steel) The color is pale green with a yellow cast; fairly accurate in two pictures. The other picture is back-lit to show veins but distorts the color.
They're recently from Japan; about 1-1/2" long and 1-1/8" diameter. Thanks for any opinions.

i don't know what is fuchin?
It's looked like a pair of jade bead---Nephrite---
and the color may be called celadon green tone.
i think they are used beads and not much old.

Those are most likely Nephrite ( Jade) beads. They look well carved, and could have some age.

Thanks for the information. Fuchin are weights for scrolls; they have a tassel threaded through the hole and hang on the ends of the scroll's rod with tassels beneath them.
I wondered if they might be jade, but find them very beautiful in any case.
Again, thanks for the opinions.
