Asian and Ethnographic Art Auction Opens at iGavel.com as Site Sees Record for Chinese Jade Vase

From April 16 – May 7 | Exhibition May 1 – 3

iGavel, the premier online fine art and antiques auction house, just unveiled its highly anticipated Asian and Ethnographic Works of Art Auction yesterday at www.igavel.com. It runs through May 7th. The auction follows New York City’s internationally renowned Asia Week, a week of exhibits and auctions of fine art from the Far East. Fresh from viewing the week’s top selling works, collectors now have the opportunity to bid on iGavel.com’s Asian and ethnographic works of art.

The auction is set to start as demand for Asian art continues to soar on iGavel. A recent Elder’s Antiques Auction hosted by iGavel ended with a record sale of an Early 20th Century Chinese White Jade Vase. Bidding went back and forth 40 times for the vase in March, driving the $7,000 starting price all the way up to $291,600.

Among the items to be auctioned is a pair of Blue and White Decorated Boy's Bowls, Qianlong Mark and Period, and other Qianlong and Ming Porcelain vessels. Also on exhibition, a collection of Central Asian Ceramic Vessels dating from the 2nd to 1st millennium, and a large group of Japanese sword fittings. Rounding out the highlights is a Central and South Indian stone sculpture from a Washington D.C. collector.

For the past few weeks collectors have been visiting iGavel’s New York City gallery to catch a first hand glimpse of the artwork. Viewings are by appointment only and can be arranged by calling 212-289-5588.
