Dear Forum Members,

Your qualified evaluation of this jar is greatly appreciated.

The jar measures 16.5 cm tall.

Thank you,

Michael,

Resemble Transitional for Japan market, but not see this form for that. Foot where glaze stop well above incised line also tell me much later.

Good luck,
Cal

Hello Cal,

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not sure of what you mean by "Foot where glaze stop well above incised line".

Here is a close-up that shows white slip glaze stops at foot rim and over-glaze enamels stop above that.

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,

Sorry, meant 'where enamel stop above incised'.

White-pudding slip even less Qing dynasty.

Doubt made China unless new technique past few years. Maybe others know where made.

Good luck,
Cal

Hello Cal,

Thank you for your reply.

I wasn't aware that white slip glaze was not used by the Chinese until the last few years.

Cheers,
Michael

Chinese good porcelain not need slip under enamel decoration. Of course slip used other purposes.

Wonder who make this, who making fake 'Tongzhi' porcelain. Where did you get them?

I'm a little confused by what Cal said. Maybe it's a language barrier problem. As for white ship, it has been widely used by Chinese potters for a thousand years and more. TO be the jar is very much a circa 1900's production.
