Subject:Intriguing painting

A few weeks ago I came across an intriguing painting at a small estate auction. I've asked a few people about it with no success. The same about online searches. I would really appreciate if somebody can give me a hint about the origins of this painting. It seems to be painted on silk paper. It has one inscription on the front and a different one on the back.
