Subject:Asian Fabric Textile

Hi All,
Is anyone able to tell me if these sections of mounted textile have genuine age to them or are they just mass produced and then framed? This also has a stamp on the back. i was considering taking the back off to look at the textile itself but Im not sure if its worth it. With the frame it measures 60cm x 60cm.
Regards

Is Chinese embroidery, not woven design. From the brilliant pink and purple colors, no earlier than 4th quarter 19th century.

Could be somewhat better quality than those produced early to middle 20th century, but still part of a very large production. Your piece might have been made to place vase or censer on, use like "doily" to keep from scratching furniture.

Piece of paper with seal went with original use of the wood back, wood re-used to frame your piece.

If you wish to conserve colors and structure of piece should be removed and put in acid-free container by professional. Hope piece is not glued to wood back.

Good luck,
Cal
