Subject:Crackleware Vase - Guan?
Posted By: Lisa Fri, Feb 26, 2010 IP: 207.200.116.5 I inherited this vase from my mother, but it had belonged to her mother-in-law before that. I don't know where it originally came from. It is about 13" high. I recently found some photos of Guan Ware that have the same type of crackle, and wondered if this is Guan Ware? If so, what does that mean? I couldn't find much about it. Should I take it off the dresser where the cat jumps? Thanks. |

Subject:Re: Crackleware Vase - Guan?
Posted By: Lisa Mon, Mar 01, 2010 Thank you, Alf. When I look at photos I can't tell the difference between Ge and Guan. I thought (based on photos online) that Ge had a dull, matte finish. Of course, I know nothing of what textures, shapes, sizes, etc. are from what kilns, or time periods, so your comment is appreciated. It is more than I knew before! Thanks again. |
