Posted By: toan Fri, Mar 12, 2010 IP: 81.154.228.83

Dear forum
Many thanks for your help recently
I found this interesting(to me)bottle in a local bric a brac shop and paid £5 for it,i have been trying to find out more about it but have not got anywhere
The bottle is about 24cm high and 11cm wide
Under a magnifying loop 30x i can see crackles deep underneath the glaze
I would be if you could tell me more about this item and possibly tell me its origin as indeed its age
Many thanks in advance
toan

Hi Toan this one does look like Japanese long neck vase of the late 19th century. It typically has a little flaring on the top. Good price at 5 pounds. Does it give ring or a tab when you tab it with your finger. Sometimes the Japanese also use Arita like porcelain for vases even though the typical one is made from Satsuma like pottery material.
