Subject:Cloisonne Bowl **help-what is it?**
Posted By: 3-R Sat, Mar 13, 2010 IP: 166.216.128.74

I need your help at determining if the colorful Cloisonné bowl is Ming Dynasty or reproduction. I purchased it from a Violinist who brought it to UAS from China and said it was from relatives in his family. It’s heavy, bronze, flawless and 8+ inches in diameter. How old is it and what may be its worth? Thanks for your help. 3-R.

Fairly recent Chinese made. Fancy "faux-Ming" mark.

3-R, I cannot give you a valuation for your item but I forgot to mention that the exact same item on eBay is priced at $159 bucks.

This is a fairly common Republic bowl with a honorable Ming mark, but the style have nothing to do with Ming taste.
