Hello Michael,

The mark (upside down) reads "Qianlong nian zhi" or "Qianlong period made" but the item is not of that period. Those 4 character marks in a double square mostly dates from the second half of the 20th. century.

Regards,

Arjan

What they purport to be are Qing Qianlong-period 1736-95) marks in overglaze iron red clerical style script. What they actually are is anyone's guess without pictures placing them in proper context of whether they are on a piece of porcelain or are tattoos on a rock star.
Cheers,
Bill

it appears upside down in your photo. reads qianlong nian zhi, or made during the Qianlong raign (China, 1736-1795). often applied to vessels made much more recently.
