Subject:Pre Imari Bowl
Posted By: Kenneth Donnelly Wed, Jan 18, 2012 IP: 173.63.100.70 I'd appreciate any comments or information on the pictured bowl including the markings or signature on the bottom. I purchased this over 30 years ago in Japan, it was expensive and was indicated to be pre Imari Japanese and I recall some name like Hashiroh-E? |

Posted By: Kenneth Donnelly Mon, Jan 23, 2012 Thank you that is helpful. I looked at some Kutani wear examples and found the one below late 1800's similar to my bowl by a potter named indicated as Kaba Kutani. If I could find someone who could translate the inscription on mine it would be helpful as would some indication of likely value. If you have any comments they would be appreciated. I will try to repost larger photos of my bowl. |

Posted By: Kenneth Donnelly Wed, Jan 25, 2012 Thanks for your responses. I also would have expected it to be Kaga Kutani, but I've also read that often the inscriptions are not clear. Again, thanks for your help. |
