Subject:carved Asian figure
Posted By: mike Fri, Mar 02, 2012 IP: 82.31.33.194

I have just fond this small carved figure while on a house clearance job and was hoping to find out a little more about it.
He stands about 6" high and is very cold to the touch and quite heavy for its size.

Any info would be very much appreciated.

Need better pictures, but from what I can see this is a soapstone carving.

Looks to be a fairly decent soapstone carving of Shoulao, the Daoist God of Longevity. He also is a member of the Daoist trinity of 'Star Gods', wherein he goes by the name of Shouxing. You can search these names at wikipedia.org for detailed information.

Best regards,

Bill H.
