Subject:Another Old Chinese platter needs Id'ing, Can U help?

Here is the second piece I've had lying around forever, trying to ID it. I'd really appreciate any and all help you can offer. This Terrific flow blue platter measures 11¾" X 9¾" It is all hand painted and has one signature on the base. Can anyone ID this mark? Thank you all for your help.

Hi Steve,

Your platter isn't Chinese but Japanese. The mark it bares was/is used on Hizen porcelain.
It's a bit hard to date (for me) because it gives a rather new impression. The only thing I can say -based on the blue color- is that it is made after 1870.

regards,

Arjan

Your say "flow blue" not correct, term refer ~only~ to 19th-century poor quality English decoration that blur in firing, on heavy stoneware-type tableware.

Your example not 19th-century but is 20th-century simulation English ware. Probably European product or could even be Chinese simulation English ware if on porcelain. You not say if item translucent (made of porcelain) or if stoneware.

Good luck,
Cal
