Subject:Horse Artist's Name
Posted By: Eljo Sat, Jul 07, 2012 IP: 80.2.77.239 I have 2 brush paintings on silk, each of a single horse, very much in the style of Xu Beihong - but not his signature that I can tell. Also, a third by a different artist - pen/ink/watercolour of an owl, on paper. Could anyone tell me who the artists were? Photo of the signatures from all 3 are attached - the first 2 are the same artist, but as with any signature, they are slightly different. Any help would be much appreciated! |

Posted By: Lilias Thu, Jul 12, 2012 Thank you very much for the reply - much appreciated. Apologies for the delay responding - had a spot of bother with the internet connection! I'm posting the (nearly) full paintings as suggested. Someone did suggest to me a while ago that the symbols on the Owl painting read 'China'? Not sure if this is right or not though. Any further info would be great. Thank you again! |

Posted By: rat Fri, Jul 13, 2012 no problem. The inscription on the owl painting doesn't read "china" but is the Japanese artist's name. unfortunately I am not any closer to figuring out what it reads, but the painting is Japanese rather than Chinese. |
