Subject:soapstone vase

Soapstone vase. 8 1/4 without stand. "170" inscription on the base and also on stand (most probably for matching purpose). quite heavy. please let me know your thoughts.

Quite roughly carved and I dont like the way that that those fretwork/greek-key borders appear to have been scratched in later...
What in particular were you wanting to know?
May have been made for the european market as one of the lions looks more european than chinese in style... Some parts say chinese to me, then other parts look sorta japanese..
Is it a piece you have bought recently?

yes, I bought this quite recent and also, I have the same feeling that somebody have been added the border/scratched the vase later
