With some help I was able to do some researce and found the print is one of many by Utagawa(Ando)Hiroshige 1797-1858..I could not name it..

The (quite faded) print is from Hiroshige's "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" (aka The Vertical Tokaido) and is the Oiso Station. It is possibly an original. I'll have to look at it in some detail. I have reservations.

See link below for an original to use for comparing.

Cheers,
Stan

Thanks Stan...I took it out of the old frame, appears to be original but like you said very faded.Could be the way it was framed many years ago..The impression can be seen on card-board backer pressed against it for years.

Looking at the print...

Below, there is a break in the black line of your print (labeled #1) that is consistent with known prints at the Boston MFA. See link and zoom a print like yours. A break in a black line is often a slam dunk indication of originality. However, the monument in your print (labeled #2) below, is oval whereas the original is round. If this isn't an artifact of the way you took the picture, I have serious reservation as to its originality.

Cheers,
Stan
