Subject:Japanese bronze Amitābha Buddha Signature & Info?
Posted By: Joe Benevides Sun, Apr 28, 2013 IP: 67.182.109.15 Is anyone able to give me information about this Japanese bronze Amitābha Buddha and/or translate the signature? It’s 5 ¾ inches tall by 5 ¼ inches wide, has what appears to be the original carved wood base, and also has a very faint "Made in Japan" mark that leads me to believe it's late Taisho or early Showa. Any further information would be greatly appreciated! |

Posted By: john Sat, May 04, 2013 The 2 characters are 丰寿. 丰 means "abundant", and 寿 means "longevity". So together they simply means "Live long and prosper" even though I do not believe the Buddha is from Star Trek. |
