Subject:Resin Carving dating and maker help
Posted By: Nicholas Randall Sun, Apr 28, 2013 IP: 121.214.219.20

This was purchased in Kobe in around 1967 and passed on to me by family - my parents were baed in Japan for more than forty years, but my Kanji reading is weak these days.
The actual length of the object is approximately 263mm.
The makers' Kanji / Netsuke is quite distinctive and stylised.
I have not been able to find another like this and my dating guess of sometime in the 19th Century is only a guess from having lived in Asia.
I am seeking some information about this to pass on to my family so any help is appreciated.
With thanks
Nick

Edit: I Don't know why I said 'netsuke' when I should have said 'Bunchin'
Here is a similar object sold at auction in the US per

These symbols could be Chinese or Japanese I suppose - Turtle, Stag, Deer ad Crane,
which also reminded me of Jurojin - one of the seven lucky Gods

I have new information from another source which suggests this is from Southern Taiwan ROC - date unknown but the name would be
石峰, read Shifeng.
