Subject:Poison vase???
Posted By: Karen Sun, May 19, 2013 IP: 69.122.148.194 Hello. I've been trying to gather information on this piece I grabbed at an estate sale. The stamp on the bottom is one I've yet to see until now. Does this automatically mean it isn't very old? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, May 21, 2013 Warnings like this began appearing around the mid-1970's on a lot of Asian porcelains, including decorative wares made in Hong Kong and Macao, because of lead in the glaze. Your vase may be older than some with reign marks found in estate sales and no less poisonous in some cases, as lead once was common in white glazes. |

Posted By: Karen Wed, May 22, 2013 Thanks so much for the information. It appears that my vase does indeed take on characteristics very like many of the Macau I now see. Thanks again. |
