Julie,

The artist is Konoshi Hidemaro, a self-taught painter of 'bijin' (beauties) living in Osaka. No dates are known but he seems to have been active during the early Showa period (1920s-30s).

On the storage box is written 'Awa Odori no zu' refering to the Awa Dance Festival in Tokushima Prefecture.

The scroll painting is signed 'Hidemaro hitsu' and sealed 'Hidemaro'.

Nice work with commercial appeal.

Guy.
