Signed 'Kosugi Ôko' (小杉桜湖) and sealed 'Ga' (画).

The title reads 'Aoyama renbeijô kanbeishiki no zu' or 'Illustration of the military review on the parade ground at Aoyama (青山練兵場観兵式之図).

The colophon gives no exact date of publication, only the 9th month is mentioned but we can assume that this triptych was issued Meiji 20 (1887) by the Tokyo publisher Takegawa Unokichi (式川卯之吉).

Just two works by Kosugi Ôko seem to be recorded.

Guy.

日軍大勝戦平壌大進撃之図
'Nichigun daishôsen Heijô daishingeki no zu' -
'Illustration of the victorious Japanese army during the great attack on Pyongyang'.

The first characters of the signature seem to read 英斎 or 'Eisai'. Could you post a close-up of the signature and also the complete triptych. Is there a colophon?.

Guy.
