Subject:Porcelain Rice Bowl
Posted By: Christopher Thu, Apr 20, 2017 IP: 2600:1000:b12b:3cd1:

Hello,

Would anyone out there be able to tell me anything about this rice bowl? Who the maker was, where it was made, and approximate age, significance if any of the exterior and interior markings?

The bowl measures 5.5" wide x 2.5" tall

Thank you in advance.

When your picture is flipped 90 degrees to the right, the mark reads down and across from the right as "Jingde GuYao", "Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln". In this case, I find the gotheborg.com dating of about 1990 for these pieces as entirely plausible. I've seen them pop up sporadically on eBay, in previous threads here, and have heard somewhere years ago that the pattern might have been sold in the USA by an import chain like Pier One. Certainly not a slouchy design, but also not a good gift choice for your collector friends with a bad case of O.C.D. over anything so far shy of passing the dictionary test for antiques.

Best regards,

Bill H.
