My aunt was in Japan for many years. This four-part screen hung over her king size bed. I don't have the exact dimensions but it's about the length of the bed. Or should I look for any identifying markers on this or can anyone give me information about it?

Your folding screen, well-presented as a wall installation, may represent horse racing held in conjunction with a Shinto temple celebration. I've pasted a couple of links below regarding the relationship between Shinto and horse racing. I know that art of this good caliber and framing was and still remains available to American military and embassy personnel through exchanges on US military bases established in Japan since 1945. If your aunt held an official position, the screen might have come from such a source, as opposed to a local art shop, and was new when purchased. In either event, it would need closer examination by an expert to determine actual age and the name of the artist.

Best regards,

Bill H.
