Subject:Help with Crackle Vase Chinese? Japanese?
Posted By: Peter Wed, Jul 05, 2017 IP: 2601:08c3:8080:1627:

I am trying to figure out where this vessel came from. It has a Japanese gold repair on the rim but I don't know where it came from or when it may have been made. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

It's Japanese for sure. Possibly originally made as a small preserve jar then re-purposed as a tea ceremony water jar. Possibly old Satsuma owing to the glazing but I have not seen that exact form, though. The online collection of the Freer-Sackler Gallery has numerous images of Japanese pottery that you can browse or search.
