Subject:Tokuriki Tomikichiro Prints
Posted By: Mary Brooke Fri, Aug 25, 2017 IP: 104.187.126.166

Looking to find out of these are original Tokuriki Tomikichiro prints or reproductions. The set is called "Four Seasons of Mt. Fuji." The prints themselves seem to be very delicate and old. Print is mounted on another piece of paper and it has an inscription in the bottom right corner I am unable to decipher. Appreciate your help with identification or translation.

These are most likely "original" prints - meaning they were struck off the original blocks. But when they were printed is anybody's guess. I believe these were designed when Tokuriki was acting as a studio artist for Uchida. Uchida is primarily a publisher of what I would describe as "tourist" prints. Uchida keeps the blocks for this and most all their other prints and when their stocks are running low simply take the blocks out of storage and have their staff printers run off some more.
These don't have a lot of collector interest.
