Posted By: Bill H Sun, Sep 03, 2017 This appears to be an apocryphal mark (shown leaning 90-degrees to the right) of the Hong Wu Emperor (1368-1398), first ruler of the Ming Dynasty. The vase, with its apparent "Three Kingdoms" motif, crackle glaze and faux bronze applications at the shoulder and base is of a type made during the Qing Guangxu reign (1874-1908).

Posted By: Bokaba Sun, Sep 03, 2017 This is a Chinese vase. As we know, many of these brown etched marks are modern fakes. Your vase appears to have a spurious Chenghua (Ming Dynasty emperor) mark. However, the quality of enamel, decoration style, and form suggest your vase is late Qing Dynasty, probably c. 1900-1911. I believe the artwork depicts a battle scene from the Romand of the Three Kingdoms, possibly the Battle of (Jiaming) Tong Pass.
