Subject:Satsuma Winepot Signature
Posted By: Jim H Thu, Sep 07, 2017 IP: 2601:142:8200:350:c9

I had one expert who suggested the signature might by by Kizan, but admitted that he wasn't positive. I've looked at many Kizan signatures, and it doesn't seem to fit, so I hope someone on the Forum can help?

The pot is 5.25” L X 4.75” H.

Thanks!

From linguistic point of view the characters clearly read:
魁山 Kaizan (鬼山 would be Kizan)
The Satsuma Kizan mark (輝山) is also
different.
Sorry not to be of more help.
With egards,

Thanks! I've found works by Kaizan that are very similar in painting style to the winepot.

This type of style/floral design is probably early 20th Century.
