Subject:Mt. Fuji on Wood Painting - Artist Identification Request
Posted By: KGJ Fri, Sep 22, 2017 IP: 149.168.204.10

Had this for over 15 years and always wondered who painted it but I've been unable to identify the symbols in the bottom right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can tell it was painted on wood because the middle of the painting is missing part of a rock - revealing the wood below. The paintings size is approximately 8" by 18".

Three katakana characters in bottom right read,
は こ ね Hakone
(Name of a town at the foot of Fuji)

With regards,
I.Nagy

I.Nagy,

Thank you very much for the reply, I never would have guessed that they were simple characters. I suppose I'll never know more about who made this painting but that's OK because I love it. Maybe I'll add Hakone to my list of random towns to visit when I finally make it to Japan thanks to you.

I hope you have a great upcoming week!
