Subject:Help to Identify Gilt Satsuma Vase?
Posted By: CV Mon, Nov 06, 2017 IP: 109.77.214.51

...and in this case also sharing a completely exquisite vase...any ideas what the procession would be too?

I will be making a reversible repair to the rim, thankfully there is hardly any paint loss

I can't tell you anything about the images on the vase, but the mark reads: Kusube: 楠部.
In this case it's a mark by Sennosuke Kusube (1859-1941), father of more known Yaichi Kusube. This mark dates from late Meiji Period.
Regards,
Martin.

Thank you Martin,
It is a treat to be able to look at some of his other work by name.

I did find another 5" plain round vase, obviously by same potter, with procession on it but no other clues
