Subject:Chinese Bronze Arhat Riding Foo Dog Statue

Dear Members,

I am hoping to learn more about this piece from one of the experts in terms of approximate age or time period and symbolism.
the two parts, the arhat and foo dog were cast separately then attached together. the underside of the foo dog base has a rectangular hole- possibly for venting in the the cast process(?)
Size: 7.5" L x 8" H; 19 x 20 cm
