Once again, hello good people,

I would also like to find out more about this porcelain (I think I have a whole tea set - this is just a cup and a cup tray so you can see the artwork and signature [every piece of this tea set is signed and I am certain that every one was hand signed as it is the same however every one is a bit different as you would expect from a handwritten signature)

The signature on the cups reads,
織田製　　Oda-sei Made by Oda
Signature of painter.A signature on the cup and saucer
is written by the same person in spite of the noticeable small differences.
I hope somebody will comment on the porcelain itself.

Kutani ware from the 1920's - 1930's.
I can't decipher the signature, perhaps I.Nagy is right and it is Oda, but written in a sloppy manner.
To compare: 2 signatures of Oda Sei from my Japanese signature database.

I still can't figure out what the 1st character is, in my opinion not O 織 (of Oda).
The 2nd is certainly 田 (ta or da) and the 3rd is Sei 製 (made). Someone once stated: Japanese marks are like doctor's writing: often unreadable. So we need a more experienced expert of Japanese writing.

But in case you like to search for yourself, try this site to figure out Japanese characters, although it didn't help me in this case.

I greatly appriciate your additional input.

I like your quotation: "Japanese marks are like doctor's writing: often unreadable"...that leaves just enough room for a little mystery and a small quest of finding out the truth...and I think that is always priceless...plus I love the set :)

Also big thanks for the link, I will definitely try to find out more...and if I get lucky, I will post the results.
