Reading of mark,
大日本国 Dai-Nihonkoku - Japanese Empire
薩摩焼 Satsuma-yaki - Satsuma Pottery
北山造之 Kitayama Tsukuri no (Made by Kitayama)
I hope the experts on ceramics will come up with more
detailed explanations.

With regards,

I was trying to find out more about Kitayama and discovered that the name can also be Hokuzan.
Kitayama is the KUN-reading (native Japanese) and Hokuzan the ON-reading (Japanse Chinese-reading).
So both names are possible, perhaps another Forum expert can tell you some more.
Regards,
Martin.
