Subject:Pair of Asian bowls
Posted By: Reeves Thu, Jan 11, 2018 IP: 107.77.80.64

Hi I have 2 Asian bowls, I was wondering if someone could give me a opinion on them. There both glazed hand painted. I don't know if there modern reproductions or something from the 1800's. In my opinion I think there well done. Also I was wondering if someone could tell me what type of bowls these are.

These are fairly common Japanese decorative bowls, probably made in the Arita area and identifiable in your first photo above as transfer-decorated. They could have been purchased new from a better department store in the West or Asia during the late 20th century or subsequently with a paper label instead of fired-on marking.

Best regards,

Bill H.
